Project
The community center of Unterföhring stands for citizen-based and transparent politics. Temme Obermeier created the spectacular market roof. The pneumatic ETFE roof is based on a steel support structure of four circular pillars fixed on built-in steel components in the slab ceiling of the underground garage. This structure was covered by a pneumatically supported membrane design which, thanks to its transparency, underlines the architectural message of the community center. The design appears especially impressive at dusk, when the lights on the supports illuminate the square.
