Refurbishment of ETFE roof on Georg-Arnold-Bath, Dresden, Germany

Since September 2016, Temme//Obermeier is renovating the more than 20 year old ETFE foil cushion roof of the time-honored Georg-Arnold-Bad in Dresden, commissioned by Dresdner Bäder GmbH. This construction was already built in 1996. However mainly the technology, adapting structures and gutters are being renewed here. The ETFE roof itself will be replaced in small pieces only. Whilst most of the ETFE foil cushions remain, mainly the air supply system is replaced by a significantly energy-saving version. Also air supply channels and cabling will be exchanged according to the newest technical guideline. You see on the picture that in some cases “the air is out”. The works will be finished in December 2016, the general renovation of the entire swimming pool will last until May 2017. We will continue to report.

Open air stage roof “Loreley”, St. Goarshausen, Germany

Temme // Obermeier received the order for the new roofing of the open air stage “Loreley” from the municipality of Sankt Goarshausen in November 2016. The entire existing roof - see photo - is replaced by a completely new construction made of steel and PVC-coated PES fabric. The new construction consists of an external steel support with a membrane roof of 1,100 sqm. This receives also a complex but well thought-out rope construction as a counter-bearing to the prevailing wind forces. The demolition and construction work will be carried out over the coming winter, and the installation of the structure and membrane will begin in the late spring of 2017.

SOS Kinderdorf Hotel School in Berlin

It's done – the installation of one of the most demanding façade projects from T//O has been completed. The 3,000 square meter facade consists of more than 100 elements, of which a large portion is moveable so that the residents can see outside without sunscreen. Even fully the PTFE/glass fiber mesh also allows the view to the outside. T//O was not only responsible for the fabric, but also for the development of ultra-narrow frame with the clamping elements. As well the development and  building of the moving technology with the tracks was in the scope of T//O. In cooperation with Rubner Holzbau  that built the entire timber structure and the larch façade, a unique project was created. Now only the membrane will bleach and the facade presents itself in perfect white.

Mall of Switzerland, Ebikon – the prototype

Finally the time has come. The first two fields for the so-called prototypes are mounted. The weather was not really ideal for the  T//O Service Team, as you can see in the pictures - unfortunately rainy and little bit cold. But the excellent planning of the T//O team enabled a smooth and almost perfect assembly. So finally we could give a good feeling for the overall project to the customer. We hope it will be a bit warmer in advance to bring the membrane to the end.

Early 2017 almost 10,000 m² divided into 70 of such fields will be installed.

Temme//Obermeier on Architect@Work 25./26.May 2016 in Copenhagen

On 25. and 26.May 2016 T//O will be on the Architect@Work 2016 in Copenhagen with an own booth. Together with our new partner Inoxline Aps from Denmark we will present our innovative Textile and ETFE foil solutions for architecture. Of course we also could and will discuss with you actual ideas or projects. Messrs. Klaus Gipperich, Dirk P. Emmer and Erling Hammer would be very glad to meet you there. You'll find us on stand 130.

Mall of Switzerland, Ebikon – Mock Up

Beginning of this year Temme//Obermeier in a JV with Biedenkapp Stahlbau was ordered to realize the nearly 10.000 m² ETFE façade for this magnificent shopping center near Luzern. This week we finished the so called working mock up including all details as basis for discussions and further engineering. Next week the mock up will be presented to the contractor and to the client himself. Again an impressing project with a great team – and all in time.

Timisoara Shopping City – best teamwork

With this ETFE foil cushion roof Temme//Obermeier took over a fast speed project. Within the planned schedule the installation is under way and will be ready on time – so the client is able to open the shopping center in April 2017 as planned. Between order and start of installation only has been a time lap of approximately 3 months. That this short time was enough for engineering, purchase, fabrication and installation was only possible because of our great team, an intelligent choice of our partners and a real cooperation with the contractor. We’ll keep you in the loop ….

SOS Kinderdorf, hotel school, Berlin

a new façade challenge

Now it seems to be officially - Temme//Obermeier is the specialist for flat tensioned façades of coated glass fabrics. Now our experienced team will also realize the membrane façade of the Hotel Management School of SOS Kinderdorf. The façade consists of more than 130 fixed and retractable individual elements and was designed by the architects Ludloff + Ludloff. Completion of the project will be in September 2016.

The Golf House in Bielefeld

Temme // Obermeier strengthens its reputation as an expert flat tensioned membrane facades. The membrane façade made of PTFE/Glas planned by brewittarchitektur will be engineered and realized by our team this year. The facade is mainly for design but also serves as a suitable weather protection for the building behind. With PTFE / glass contrary to PVC / PES the material with longer lifetime and higher quality was chosen.

SCA Shopping Center Alpenstreet

Now it’s ready!

It’s done – just in December 2014 the façade cladding or the brand new shopping centers was finalized. So the new “gift” for the shopping world of Salzburg is ready.

The cladding made of PTFE/glass membrane together with the metal stripes lets the building looking like a big gift package. The client was so satisfied with the cooperation with Temme//Obermeier that he additionally ordered the realization of the same kind of cladding for the West façade.

Top in promotion of new talents

Membrane industry and it new talents. Whatever the known institutes doing Europe and worldwide, the team of Temme//Obermeier is living it – successfully! This week we received the message that our trainee Balint Füzes, student of architecture from Budapest, won the first price in the competition of the ASA Architectural Science Association with his contribution “The  Energy Parasite”. We really congratulate and we are happy that we were able to provide him the environment to be successful that way.

“The Energy Parasite” is an intelligent system made of membranes, flexible photovoltaic elements and a structure which allow to adapt it to any kind of building. Not only a technical solutions also architecturally it’s very interesting. The presentation and the award will happen on the 48th International Conference (09. – 12th December 2014) of the ASA in Genua, Italy.

Main railway station Graz is ready!

Now 2 weeks ago we did it. Also the third and last part of the main railway station of Graz in Austria was finished.  Now the clients of the ÖBB (Austrian Railway Company) will have the same “light” comfort feeling like in the Main Railway Station in Salzburg. The TENARA®  fabric has been mounted without any defects and creates with a translucency light and shadow together. More details to this unique project in one of our next newsletters.

Pforzheim office building

Again another “flat” facade

Again Temme//Obermeier proved that it is one of the leading companies in flat membrane façade structures. Nearly one week ago we finished the façade at the office building in the Habermehl-Street in Pforzheim, Germany.

The façade is made of PTFE/Glass mesh fabric tensioned on a steel structure. This structure gives the building the personal note and it’s  visible from the busy main street although it’s situated in a side street. Additionally as soon the planned back light is installed the building will become a real eye-catcher.

More and detailed information in one of our next newsletters.

Main Station Graz

It’s time now – the third and last part of the installation of the railway station Graz has been started last Monday. Our installation team will finish the mounting of the last membrane made of TENARA – the actual highest quality architectural membrane – within nearly one week. After Salzburg, Rosenheim, Hamburg-Poppenbüttel and Chemnitz T//O will have finished successfully the fifth station building.

The travelers will then start or finish their journey protected by a high translucent roof. As soon all is finished we will report in detail.

SCA Shopping Centre Alpenstreet in Salzburg Austria

The latest Institute Building on Jena’s Science campus represents another Landmark of outstanding architectural design with its remarkable bright facade appearance. The suspended PTFE/glass mesh facade does allow a maximum natural lighting inwards whereas the view from the outside is reduced to a minimum, during daylight hours.  The high esthetic requirements defined by the Architects did force Temme Obermeier to develop a completely new facade framing system. This system provides a homogenous surface with minimized gaps between the frames. Integrated springs keep the tension of the fabric on a constant required level throughout the different temperature conditions of the year.
